Le téléphone arabe
May, 2015 | Master project | Haute école des arts du Rhin

“Le téléphone arabe” is a project that investigates the limits of Google Translate. For that purpose, three sentences related to translation were selected through my master thesis. Each of them were translated into another language on Google Translate, then towards french, then towards another language, and so on. At the end, those three sentences, which undergo a succession of inconsistent translations, lead to an absurd and meaningless result.

October, 2013 | Workshop | Haute école des arts du Rhin

Participants : Thierry Ballmer and Lukas Hartmann

This triptych shows a progressive reorganization of the following quotation: “Typography can possibly be art” ( Kurt Schwitters). As one goes along, the letters evolve from a graphic style to a readable text.

The semaphore alphabet is a means of communication used in the navy, with flags coding characters of the latin alphabet. This triptych suggests a visual interpretation of the semaphore alphabet.
